Do you have a question about your personal data? Feel free to contact me at the email address above.
Who processes your data?
La Mariposa is the data controller for personal data processed through this website and in connection with the support and midwifery care I provide.
What data do I process?
Depending on how you contact La Mariposa, I may process the following data:
- your name, email address, phone number and other contact details;
- information you provide through the contact form, by email or during an appointment;
- data needed to answer your question or plan an appointment;
- administrative and billing data;
- data needed for support, midwifery care and the creation or follow-up of a patient record;
- limited technical data, such as logs or an IP address, for the safe and correct operation of the website.
I do not process more data than is necessary for the purpose for which it is used.
Why is your data used?
Your data is used to:
- answer your question;
- plan, confirm and prepare appointments;
- provide support and midwifery care;
- maintain your patient record correctly;
- manage administration, billing and reimbursement;
- comply with legal and professional obligations;
- keep the website functioning safely and correctly.
Depending on the situation, processing takes place because it is necessary to respond to your request, provide care, comply with a legal obligation, on the basis of a legitimate interest (such as website security) or — where genuinely applicable — on the basis of your consent.
Health data
Data relating to pregnancy and health is particularly sensitive and therefore receives additional protection. When such data is needed for midwifery care, I process it only for the provision of care and the legal and professional obligations connected with that care. As a midwife, I am also bound by professional confidentiality.
Who may your data be shared with?
Your data is not shared without a reason. Where necessary for your care or administration, certain data may for example be shared with:
- other healthcare professionals involved in your care;
- your health insurance fund, the RIZIV/INAMI or other competent bodies;
- service providers needed to run the practice, such as hosting, email, IT, accounting or administrative software;
- competent public authorities where required by law.
Where external service providers process personal data on behalf of La Mariposa, they may use it only for the agreed purpose and must protect it appropriately. If data is exceptionally processed outside the European Economic Area, this takes place only where there is a valid legal basis and appropriate safeguards.
How long is your data kept?
Personal data is not kept for longer than necessary. Data from a contact request that does not lead to further support or care is kept only for as long as needed to deal with the request and any follow-up. Once a care relationship begins, relevant data may become part of your patient record; the statutory retention periods for medical data then apply. Invoices, payment information and other accounting documents are kept for the legally required period.
How is your data protected?
I take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse, unauthorised access or disclosure. Access is limited to those who genuinely need the data for care or for the operation of the practice.
What rights do you have?
Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you have rights including access, rectification, restriction of processing, objection, data portability, withdrawal of consent (where processing is based on consent) and, in certain cases, erasure. Legal exceptions may apply to medical data. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact me. I normally respond within one month.
Cookies and technical data
This website does not use analytics, marketing or tracking cookies. If strictly necessary cookies are used for the safe and correct operation of the website, they are used only for that purpose and do not require consent.
If this changes in the future and non-essential cookies or other tracking technologies are added, this privacy notice will be updated and prior consent will be requested where required.
A question or complaint?
Do you have a question or concern about how your data is processed? Please feel free to contact me first so we can look at it together.
You also always have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority via www.gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be.
Changes
This privacy notice may be updated if the way the practice or website operates changes, or if the law changes. The most recent version will always be available on this page.
